WEB: Where Everybody Belongs
Program Overview

WEB is a middle school transition program that welcomes 6th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. WEB, an acronym for Where Everybody Belongs, is built on the belief that students want to and can help other students succeed. The WEB middle school transition program trains members of the 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders; as positive role models, WEB Leaders are motivators, leaders and teachers who guide 6th graders to discover what it takes to be successful in middle school.
I have worked to cultivate leadership and teamwork amongst the 8th graders through specific programming and structures that help them understand the importance of their role in helping 6th graders feel welcome.

Recruitment Assembly and Video

To recruit possible WEB Leaders, we organized and held an assembly to get students excited about the program. The assembly included a snippet of the WEB program, an obstacle course, and information about how to become a WEB Leader (a process that included an application, interview and demo day).
